about
"MAILART.PT" is an online platform for international mail_art & art_by_mail promotion and archive.
Sharing the same name, "MAILART.PT" is also an international exhibition of mail_art and its derivatives curated by Monsenhor enVide neFelibata. This show is renewed on the 31st of each month and has presents a selection of the most representative works of its genre and of famous artists.
The objective of this project is to promote and elucidate the public about this art form through a strong pedagogical focus.
The artwork rotation allows revisiting and creating renewed collections confronting artists and times. This collection is also kept up to date in digital format on the www.mailart.pt platform and aims to become an object of study of the evolution of new artistic languages by these authors and their artistic careers, within the genre that is mail_art.

testimonials
I’ve meet Katja Aarflot during my research on norsk traditions, culture, and art at Norway. Being Katja an artist herself, an expert on the artists Edvard Munch and Theodor Kittelsen and a true passioned on the surrounding nature and people,… the connection was rather fast and we ended up calling ourselves “sister in arts, brother in arms”.
Katja’s work reveals an immersive knowledge and concern on international political and social matters and that is significantly on her multiple layered collages where the use of the written word and newspaper clippings are often the background. On the foreground, delightful thick opaque bright colorful strokes and thin sun burnt Norwegian paint, veils the sometimes cruelness news articles content. Carefully aged tea and coffee washes adds one more breadth and meaning.
One cannot fully read one of her works deprived of the surrounding creations.
With this piece, Katja shows us the true nature of Trashpo (Trash Poetry) with the use of found objects and the oddness dimension that mailart presents.
